PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION

Direct the personnel and activities of a project management unit, including development, definition and implementation of work processes and financial management tools, development and implementation of processes and tools to oversee and effectively manage projects, control costs, assure adherence to schedules, prioritize projects and resources and forecast budgets. Assure the focus and attainment of business goals and objectives. Develop and maintain an environment that promotes diversity and high productivity. Champion the use of the corrective action process and utilize continuous learning. Reinforce safe work behaviors and culture. Responsible for managing the scope, schedule, budget and safety performance of multiple projects and programs. Leads project teams through business case / capital approval process, development and execution of project plans and project closeout. Position may be required to work extended hours for coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Manage the budget of an assigned portfolio of work. Establish and monitor business plans and objectives. Balance cost control with service level needs.

  • Develop and maintain an environment that fosters a high performance culture and a learning organization. Leads Project Management team in promoting diversity. Serves as a change agent for business initiatives and assures the human element is understood and considered. Assure timely recognition of employee contributions.

  • Provide leadership to and development of direct reports. Provide accurate and timely feedback regarding performance and operations. Conduct Performance Planning and Appraisal process. Identifies opportunities for growth and learning.

  • Interface with other departments in Exelon and represent Exelon to other business units regarding projects under management and tools to support the process.

  • Facilitates open and honest communication across the organization. Assures that upward communication is integrated into the process, including employee grievances and complaints. Develop methods to assess communication effectiveness and implement continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Manages large and/or highly complex and often unique projects or programs requiring the application of established project management principles and techniques. Directly accountable to deliver project and programs on schedule and at or below budget.

JOB SCOPE

  • Implement and manage a project portfolio/program with annual expenditures of approximately $100 - $150 million to meet Company commitments to state and local governments, regulatory agencies and external customers.

  • Manage performance of multiple project teams through assigned project managers with direct supervision of 4-6 employees and indirect management of several hundred contract personnel.

  • In addition to direct supervision, may also directly manage large and/or highly complex and often unique projects or programs.

  • Interact with all levels of Exelon leadership; manage relationship with management of contractors; interact with front line employees and contract personnel at all levels.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in business, engineering or related field and 7-10 years relevant project management or related experience

  • In lieu of Bachelor's degree, 9-12 years of relevant experience.

  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification or achieve PMP within two years of job entry

  • Demonstrated proficiency and experience managing large, complex projects using project management techniques including: A. Planning and Control (product /work breakdown structures, critical path analysis, scope control techniques) B. Issue and Risk Management (identification, assessment and management of project risks including contingency plans) C. Project Management Tools (methods and techniques for planning, scheduling, resource balancing, monitoring cost) D. Business Case Development (cost/benefit evaluations including net present value analysis) E. Progress Reporting (cost/schedule curves, project status report, earned value analysis)

  • Proven leadership ability in a high performance culture

  • Demonstrated ability to build consensus, communicate effectively, engage others in the required processes, and hold people accountable Demonstrated ability to develop and implement process enhancements and efficiencies including technology and performance. Demonstrated business acumen, customer awareness and ability to create value. Demonstrated ability to achieve results, build consensus, establish trust, communicate effectively and foster culture change within a matrixed organization.

  • Valid driver's license and access to an automobile

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience with large construction renovation projects is required for this role.

  • Annual salary will vary based on a candidate's skills, qualifications, experience, and other factors: $120,800-$181,200
